I got a very nice koa set from Doug at Blue Spirit, no flame just like I asked for, with great color. Although I haven't even put tool to wood yet, I'm thinking about the finish, specifically what to use for filler, never having used koa. I'm an old fan of the old paste fillers, and am wondering about what opinions you all might have as to color, or even type of filler. I like the contrast of fillers, so I stain (sometimes) seal, fill, seal, then build. I'd like a warm look. Any ideas, opinions, favorites? Thanks! |

I like the effect Z-Poxy has in bringing out the figure in wood. It also adds a slight amber tint. I find it easy to work with and sand level. |

I have built several Koa boxes. I think the Zpoxy Finishing Resin really pops the figure and contrast of Koa. the finishing resin's hardener is med dark amber in color wehn mix with the part A has a very nice warm amber tint that really makes gold, brown and red woods come to life. Plus it is about as simple of a fill system as you can get. |
